Leadership Institute

Become tomorrow's leader

Become tomorrow’s leader

Our annual Leadership Institute is a two-day national racial and reproductive justice conference for law students, centered on grassroots organizing and lawyering for reproductive justice.

Why a Leadership Institute

Reproductive justice depends entirely on if, when, and how hard we fight — and how well we equip the next generation of leaders with the powerful tools they need to make lasting change.

At a glance

  • Who: Student Chapter Leaders
  • When: Two days each summer
  • Where: The Institute has been held in Washington, DC, Oakland, and Atlanta

What you’ll get

Law student leaders will get a grounding in racial justice principles so students are prepared to be the best RJ advocates they can be. Law students will also get a chance to build community across the country, and learn from leading lawyers and organizers. It’s especially helpful for law student leaders who are kick-starting a new or revived chapter.

Accessibility and accommodations

We aim to make our conference a space that is as accessible as possible. The cost of the conference is covered for every attendee. Applicants who are from marginalized communities are offered first priority. We offer live captions for every conference session, and offer recordings for any chapter leaders unable to attend in person. We follow the CDC guidelines for COVID, and provide masks to attendees. We allow service animals. We also provide stipends to parents who need help with child care for the weekend.
