BREAKING NEWS: A grand jury decided to end the case against Brittany Watts—and we couldn’t have done it without you.
A woman in Ohio was facing felony charges for a very common experience that many people share: pregnancy loss. Brittany’s loss should never have been taken to law enforcement, and should have never been made public.
Our collective outrage and organizing made it clear to lawmakers in Ohio what we already know to be true: Ohio law does not support criminalizing someone for their pregnancy loss.
While we are thrilled that Brittany can finally focus on taking care of herself and processing her grief, her trauma should never have been made fodder for punishing her. No one should have to fear criminalization for their pregnancy loss in Ohio and beyond.
Let’s take our collective action and make sure this doesn’t happen again.
Use this toolkit to take action.
Together we can remind everyone that Ohio law does not support, and should never support, criminalizing someone for experiencing pregnancy loss.
