We are thrilled to announce that If/When/How is moving to a co-leadership model! This decision is rooted in our commitment to innovation, shared leadership, and building a sustainable work culture.

In this critical moment, co-leadership will bolster our ability to provide essential legal services, fight criminalization, and mobilize the legal field to defend reproductive justice.

The If/When/How Board of Directors is proud to announce that it has named Mariko Miki, J.D., as the organization’s first Co-Executive Director. Mariko has served as Interim Executive Director of If/When/How since June of 2023, and was previously Managing Director and General Counsel. Mariko is a legal and movement powerhouse with a proven track record of exceptional leadership that we know will expand and deepen the legal services, support, and movement building resources we provide to people and partners across the U.S.

Mariko brings more than thirteen years of experience at the organization and, among her many achievements, designed and launched If/When/How’s groundbreaking Fellowship program and established our first-of-its-kind Repro Legal Defense Fund. Her deep commitment to the development of If/When/How’s work to advance reproductive justice makes her the clear choice to co-lead this organization into its next era.

With this announcement, we are pleased to launch the search for a thoughtful, experienced, and passionate leader to work alongside Mariko as Co-Executive Director of If/When/How. We are hoping to find someone with experience working directly with people impacted by criminalization.

The Co-Executive Directors will share leadership and accountability for holding the vision of If/When/How and lead the organization into our next era. Together, and with our entire staff, we can work towards our ten-year goal: a future where people in every state will have more power to determine their reproductive lives in safety and with dignity, shielded from criminalization and state control over their experiences and decisions about their bodies and families.

Are you our new Co-Executive Director? Are you a people-centered leader? Do you have experience representing communities who have experienced criminalization? Do you love fundraising for direct services?
